Janney Named to Computerworld’s 2018 100 Best Places to Work in IT List

PHILADELPHIA, PA – June 18, 2018 – Janney Montgomery Scott LLC (“Janney”), a leading full-service wealth management, financial services, and investment banking firm headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, has been recognized by IDG’s Computerworld as one of the 2018 Best Places to Work in Information Technology (IT). Janney ranked 16th among the 21 midsize organizations on the prestigious list.

The Best Places to Work in IT list is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals. The list is compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.

“At Janney, we know that our people are the key to our continued success. We work hard to create an environment that values their contributions and fosters creativity and collaboration,” said Bob Thielmann, Janney’s Chief Information Officer. “Our dedicated team of IT professionals has been a significant contributor to record business results over the last several years. This recognition, coupled with the department’s low attrition rate and sustainable high level of output, is a testament to both the quality of the culture we foster for Janney’s IT team members and the value placed on technology innovation at the firm.”

This is the second time that Janney has been recognized by Computerworld as a Best 100 Place to Work in IT, with previous recognition in 2014. Mr. Thielmann was also recognized by Computerworld in 2014 as a Premier 100 IT Leader. Janney’s other technology-related accolades include recognition from WealthManagement.com as a Top Broker/Dealer for Technology in 2016, being named to InformationWeek’s Elite 100 list in 2015 and 2016, and receiving a CIO 100 Award from CIO Magazine in 2013.

“The ability to attract and retain skilled IT talent is critically important in keeping any business relevant and viable as the digital world continues to expand,” said Mr. Thielmann. “Our goal is to keep raising the technology bar to adapt to changing investor preferences and meet client expectations around communication and technology; all while helping advisors manage larger business portfolios. This recognition substantiates the value our technology team brings to the business strategy and confirms that we are on the right path.”
