Barron’s 2017 ‘Top 1,200 Financial Advisors’ Honors 8 Financial Advisors From Janney


PHILADELPHIA, PA – March 8, 2017 – Janney Montgomery Scott LLC (“Janney”) today announced that eight of the firm’s Financial Advisors have been named to Barron’s 2017 list of “Top 1,200 Financial Advisors.” The advisors named from Janney are: Robert H. Bishop, Pittsburgh, PA; Ed Blumenthal of Philadelphia, PA; Mark Eskin of Philadelphia, PA; Joseph P Hassett Jr., Providence, RI; Charles J. Noble, III of New Haven, CT; Peter H Sargent, Newtown, PA; Gerald Scheinker of Baltimore, MD; and Allan Strange of Richmond, VA.

The Barron’s list, organized by state, is based on quantitative and qualitative data provided by more than 4,000 of the nation’s most accomplished advisors. Barron’s analysis uses a complex formula that contains 22 points of ranking, all with various weightings. The calculation considers factors such as assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory record, quality of practice and philanthropic work.

Robert H. Bishop, Pittsburgh, PA – Ranked #45 in Pennsylvania
Robert H. Bishop serves as Executive Vice President/Investments, founder, and senior member of the Bishop Wealth Management Group at Janney Montgomery Scott. Bob has been a Financial Advisor with Janney Montgomery Scott, formerly Parker/Hunter, since 1983 and was part of the team that created Janney Capital Management (formerly Parker/Hunter Asset Management) in 1993. He was previously named a Barron’s Top Advisor in 2016, was named a “Top 400 Financial Advisor” by Financial Times in 2013, and currently sits on Janney’s Financial Advisor Advisory Board. He has a graduate degree in Management from the University of Pittsburgh and has attended the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School’s Securities Industry Association (SIA) Institute. An active member of the community, Bob has served on a variety of boards including a public school board, Habitat for Humanity, the Coalition for Christian Outreach and the Janney Board of Managers.

Ed Blumenthal, Philadelphia, PA - Ranked #32 in Pennsylvania
Ed Blumenthal serves as Executive Vice President/Wealth Management and a senior partner of Stedmark Partners at Janney Montgomery Scott. An Accredited Wealth Management Advisorsm, Blumenthal was previously named a Barron’s “Top Advisor” from 2013 through 2016. He was also was named in the “FT 400 Top Financial Advisors” by Financial Times in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017. Blumenthal is a board member and serves on the Executive Committee of the Eastern Pennsylvania/Delaware Regional Chapter of the Anti-Defamation League, and will Chair the ADL’s 2017 “WALK Against Hate”. He is an active member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Delaware Valley Chapter’s Planning Team for the MS City to Shore Bike Tour. Blumenthal received his undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Rochester.

Mark Eskin, Philadelphia, PA - Ranked #31 in Pennsylvania
Mark Eskin serves as Executive Vice President/Wealth Management and is a senior partner of Stedmark Partners at Janney Montgomery Scott. An Accredited Wealth Management Advisorsm, Eskin was named a Barron’s “Top Advisor” in 2010, and from 2012 through 2016, and, along with his team, was recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal as a “Top Financial Advisor in Greater Philadelphia” and in the “FT Top 400 Financial Advisors” by Financial Times in 2013. Mark is an active member of the Board of Trustees of the Abington Health Foundation and the Madlyn & Leonard Abramson Center for Jewish Life in Horsham, PA, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Federation Endowments Corporation of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia. He also Chairs the Business Council of Abington Memorial Hospital, and is a past-President of the 800-member Philadelphia Estate Planning Council. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and is a magna cum laude graduate of the Temple University School of Law.

Joseph P. Hassett, Jr., Providence, RI – Ranked #4 in Rhode Island
Joe Hassett, who joined Janney in 2009, serves as Executive Vice President / Wealth Management of Hassett Wealth Management of Janney Montgomery Scott. Joe’s financial career spans over 30 years. His financial expertise afforded him membership at the firm’s highest Club level status of CEO Roundtable and Barron's 2014 List of "Top 1200 Advisors.” Joe is active on the Rhode Island Foundation Advisory Board and the Providence College President’s Council. Joe is a graduate of LaSalle Academy High School and Providence College. A fine athlete, he is a member of Providence College Hall of Fame, LaSalle Academy Hall of Fame, Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame and New England Basketball Hall of Fame. Joe holds a Gold medal as a member of the basketball team at the 1975 Pan America Games. He also won an NBA World Championship with the 1979 Seattle Supersonics.

Charles J. Noble, III, New Haven, CT - Ranked #15 in Connecticut
Charles J. Noble, III serves as Executive Vice President/ Wealth Management of Noble Wealth Advisors of Janney Montgomery Scott, and Branch Manager of the firm’s Downtown New Haven, Connecticut office. He currently is a member of Janney’s Board of Managers, serves on the Board of Directors of Ecochlor, Inc. and serves as Chairman of the Board of Managers of Kathie’s Kitchen-SuperSeedz. He was named a Barron’s Top Advisor from 2014 through 2016, named in the “FT 400 Top Financial Advisors” by Financial Times in 2013 and 2014, and was awarded Janney’s 2012 Financial Advisor of the Year. Noble received his BS in Finance from the University of New Haven and completed the SIA Course of Study at the Wharton School of Business.

Gerald Scheinker, Baltimore, MD - Ranked #16 in Maryland
With more than 50 years’ experience in the financial services industry, Scheinker serves as Executive Vice President/Wealth Management and senior partner of Scheinker Investment Partners at Janney Montgomery Scott. Throughout his career he has been awarded with honors from various financial services firms and was named a Barron’s “Top Advisor” from 2006, through 2009, and again from 2011, through 2016, a “FT 400 Top Financial Advisor” by Financial Times in 2013, and was named to Forbes’ list of “America’s Top Wealth Advisors” in 2016. Peter Sargent is an Executive Vice President/Wealth Management and the founder of Sargent Wealth Management of Janney Montgomery Scott, with offices in Raleigh, NC and Yardley, PA. Peter holds both the CFA designation and CFP® certificate, a designation awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc.
